Why choose counselling?
You may be wondering why you do some of the things you do, things that may be harmful to yourself or others, or that keep bringing you back to square one. Perhaps you feel lonely, even when you are with other people, or stuck in the process of making a difficult decision or moving on. You may be struggling with depression or anxiety, feel stressed and find it hard to relax or be experiencing problems in your relationship or marriage.
Taking the first step to approach someone for help takes courage. Whatever your reason for ending up at my page, being here shows that you have, at the very least, a glimmer of hope that things could be better, and a sense that you need someone to help you on your journey.
Perhaps I can help you.
I provide safe, confidential and non-judgemental counselling to individual adults and couples, offering you the space to discuss and explore what is troubling you, with the aim of helping you to find a way forward. You are invited to arrange a FREE preliminary meeting with me where we can explore what is troubling you, and you will be able to learn about me, how I work, and decide whether counselling with me is right for you. We may then decide to meet for a set number of sessions, or work on a more open-ended basis.
I offer psychodynamic counselling, an approach which seeks to bring into awareness unconscious beliefs, behaviours and coping strategies which may have helped you cope in the past, perhaps in childhood, but are now outdated and holding you back. Brought to light they can be made sense of and lead to the possibility of change if that is what you want.
I gained my Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling in 2009 and have counselled on a voluntary basis and privately since then. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and ahere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. My work is overseen by a supervisor and I undertake regular Continuous Professional Development activities. I am a member of the Solent Group of Psychotherapists and Counsellors and currently acting as its treasurer.
Contact me to arrange a FREE preliminary consultation. I aim to get back to you within 24 hours.
